Haymarket Park Named Field of the Year For 18th Season

The Lincoln Saltdogs and the American Association jointly announced that Haymarket Park is the league’s ‘Best Playing Field’ for 2018. Haymarket Park has been the Field of the Year for all 18 seasons of its history, as voted on by the league’s field managers and media personnel.

Athletic Turf Manager Jeremy J. and his staff continued to keep Haymarket Park’s field in top condition in his second season in charge. The league features six newer ballparks including two built in the last two years. “Even in its 18th year, and with newer facilities emerging in our league, Haymarket Park continues to be the best field,” Saltdogs President/General Manager Charlie M. said. “Our grounds crew and stadium operations staff, led by Jeremy Johnson and Jen Roeber, meticulously manage one of the best playing surfaces in all of minor league baseball.”

Johnson has a staff of full-time and intern workers who tend to the field throughout the season and throughout the year. “This award would not have been possible without the help and teamwork of the entire staff,” Jeremy said. “I would like to thank Jen R. for her work ethic and communication that was essential to our success this season. I would also like to thank Marcus L., Mike M., and Blake T. for their hard work and attention to detail, our turf intern Kyle T. and our entire grounds crew for their dedication to providing a high quality playing surface.”

New Overland Ready Mixed Plant Nears Completion

Overland Ready Mixed is moving it’s Geneva plant operations to Strang, NE. The new plant is erected, floors have been poured and the walls for the office are currently being framed. The next phase of the project is to erect the building around the plant.

Plans call for the project to be completed by November 30 and the plant should be operational by January 1, 2019. The Strang plant will feature a new dry batch plant that can handle 200 yards per hour. The Geneva 1995 Con-E-Co LoPro Plant will be refurbished and moved to Silver Creek to replace a 1976 manual batch plant.

The new plant used 1,500 tons of recycled crushed concrete for the base. The concrete was crushed by Constructors. Ayars & Ayars is the general contractor for the project.
